Steven’s review of Kuntilanak

The Indonesian horror film Kuntilanak was released on June 15, 2018. Kuntilanak is an evil spirit that steals children. In this film, five children who have been adopted by a rich woman are haunted by the evil spirit.

The actors, especially the children, were very good. The storyline was well done and there were a couple of scenes where I jumped in my seat. The editing was excellent as well as the directing. The whole concept of evil demons vs. ghosts is, I believe, a cultural thing. The difference between these two phenomena is minor when you take into account the type of story which is being told. The important thing is were you frightened? The CGI for Kuntilanak was not very original since I have seen other Asian horror films use totally white eyes to represent evil.

As far as the scare factor for this movie is concerned, I give it a 4. The child actors were very good and I give them a 5. Overall, I rate this movie 4 stars out of 5.
