StevenF Review of The Prince

This is a review of the movie The Prince (not the book by Machiavelli) which was released on August 22, 2014. Jason Patric plays a former assassin who goes looking for his lost daughter (Gia Mantegna) in New Orleans. Things become complicated when a revenge ridden Don (Bruce Willis) finds out Patric is in town.

The acting in this film was good, but it seemed to take awhile to get to the action sequences. The director also did a good job. I was sad to see that this was promoted as a Bruce Willis movie when Jason Patric had most of the scenes. John Cusack and 50 Cent made appearances as a former hit man and a drug dealer. Surprisingly, for an action movie there wasn’t an excessive amount of foul language and no real sex scenes. The shoot out scenes were well choreographed and exciting.

This was a decent enough action film. As I said, the acting was good and I can recommend it for this reason alone. I give this 4 stars out of 5, because the action scenes were held back until the last third of the movie.

This started out slow but boy did it get into the action. The crime lord who was not a ‘Don’ was actually a coward and had others do his dirty work, which at the end was his failing. The action was good and I really liked Bruce Willis playing the baddie. He did it well.
