StevenF Review of Sword of Destiny

The complete title of this movie is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. It was released on February 26, 2016. This is a film about ambition, lost love, and redemption. It stars Michelle Yeoh (Yu) who seeks to protect the sword of destiny from a martial arts lord named Hades Dai (Jason Scott Lee).

The acting is very good with plenty of flying battle scenes. There is some blood shown but it is not excessive. One scene involves Silent Wolf (Donnie Yen) who was thought to be dead, fighting one of Dai’s henchmen on a frozen lake. The director did a fantastic job in keeping the action moving forward. The battle scenes were exciting and poetic. There is nothing in this film that I can complain about.

Normally, I am not a fan of sequels, but this film is great as a stand alone film. If you are a purist, then watch the original Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon before you see this film. They blend well together. I give this 5 stars out of 5.

This movie reminded me of biker gangs with their funny names for each other and the martial arts were not realistic at all. other than that it was a great movie with plenty of action and fighting.
