StevenF Review of Jupiter Ascending

The film Jupiter Ascending was released on February 5, 2015. Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) works with her mother and aunt cleaning houses. Through some bizarre circumstances, she learns that she is an heiress to an interplanetary fortune. One of the things she owns is the planet Earth. A guardian (Channing Tatum) is sent to bring her to another heir (Douglas Booth). Things get a bit complicated after that.

The storyline is decent as was the acting. I have a feeling that Mila Kunis was signed up because of her Russian background. The character she plays is Russian. There was plenty of action and some good CGI. I must say that this felt more like a fantasy film than a science fiction film. Eddie Redmayne (from Fantastic Beasts) played the main villain while Sean Bean appeared as Stinger, a former comrade of Tatum’s character.

This film ran 2 hours and 7 minutes. There were some minor things that weren’t logical, i.e. kissing in the middle of a battle scene. These weren’t bad enough though to distract from the film. There were some subtitles, but not a lot. I would give this 4 stars out of 5.

Kissing in the beginning or end of a film seems to be nice, but while trying to save your life in a fight, it is downright ignorant, take heed you producers of such trash. Taking that out of the picture it was a decent film 3.5 from me.
