Rampage (April 13 2018) The thing I dislike about recent Dwayne Johnson movies is that for the most (Jumanji excluded) when he should be trying to save a city, or a country, his movies have been about saving a friend or family, and in this movie it is an ape. Yes the story line seems realistic until you realize that hundreds or thousand of people are dying, and although many are saved, the focus seems to be on the animal instead of the people.

Granted the earth is overpopulated so we can afford to loose a few billion right Mr. President? Children in school, the elderly, and everyone in between, after all this is real life so losing them only hurts a few that were left. Personally I am tired of movies like this. Yes is it nice to save the ape, or the dinosaurs, I am not in favor of saving this particular crocodile though, I mean – come on, but the wolf? Someone got their wires crossed writing this one. I was in favor of saving the children, their parents and grand parents, which until the end it did not happen at all.

You can say: They had to stop the animals to save the people, and that takes time. True it does, yet in this case more people could have been saved. Overall this is a high impact action adventure movie, and Dwayne Johnson played himself very well. The other actors did a so so job, I especially liked Jeffery Dean Morgan, his part was over the top as Agent Harvey Russel. You know those egotistical undercover government operatives. He did this very well. I can’t say enough about his performance, it was outstanding.

I give this movie 4 our of 5 stars, it will be up to the individual whether they buy it or not.

3 Thoughts on “Review of Rampage w/ Trailer

I think as far as adventure movies go, this should be good. I also think of this as a morality play, where Man trying to play God has consequences. There seems to be some humor in the story line, which I like in these sort of movies.
Two lines from the trailer, though, seem to sum up some of the illogical aspects:1) “Of course the wolf flies” and 2) “you have to evacuate Chicago” as if that would be a piece of cake.
When I first saw the trailer, I thought it looked like a good movie. Not much has changed and I still would watch it.

This does look good with plenty of action and it appears some comedy too. But come on, they called the gorilla George? reminds me of George of the Jungle!!

While I do generally like Dwayne Johnson movies, I think I will pass on this one. It looks like it might have some cute parts, but the overall premise just doesn’t grab me.
