Martian Child (November 2007) If a boy or girl were to tell you they were from Mars, or any other planet or solar system, of course, you are not going to believe them. Then again we are human and do not understand the ways of the universe. Let’s face it, as a species, we may think we are the ultimate, but taking one look at our planet tells us a different story. We have doomed ourselves because of inaction.
What if that boy or girl were telling the truth. It would take you a long time to digest the information presented. By then the government would step in, and of course no more boy or girl in your life. Let’s add some perspective, a child is brought to the earth from another dimension. They know nothing and need to learn everything. Isn’t this the same thing a Martian would need to do? Everything is foreign to them, everything is different. To them we are aliens.
Being an author maybe this hit home more than it should have, I could actually see exactly what author David Gerrold was doing. No, I could not tell you what he had planned, but I knew what he was doing. Then there is the matter of love of this alien creature, of course, they are thinking the same thing, after all, who can you trust? Are you on their menu? Are they on yours? Love, at least to me has never been defined very well, it is a concept and not tangible. The closest I have come to it is the feeling you cannot live without the alien, or person in your life. Not a very good explanation, but it will have to suffice.
Enjoy this heartwarming movie made for science fiction fans, but very at home with any genre’. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.
