Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul May 2017, Jason Drucker as Greg, Alicia Silverstone as the mom, For anyone that has read or watched the Diary of a Wimpy kid series, The Long Haul will be one of your favorites, saying that you have lost your mind or about eight years old. Now I haven’t lost my mind, just yet,  nor am I eight years old,  but even at my young age I did enjoy the movie. The original cast has been replaced, which in my opinion was a good thing. Greg in the show is still twelve years old, and the new Greg is just great, even when he is orange.

Of course the long haul refers to a road trip. Imagine sitting next to that accursed Roderick for 4+ days, Manny in the back of the van, and your parents in the front, with a new rule, NO ELECTRONICS. If any of you have had parents then you know when that surprise comes down the line all hell breaks loose, and so it does with The Long Haul.

Although I felt that the adults in the movie over acted and reacted to almost everything, the kids were right on the spot, including the despicable Roderick, who must have been thinking of something else besides his part in the whole movie, like the original, he just didn’t fit in. I guess that is true of anyone who has a big ego and can’t see past their big giant noses.

Um yeah, well, the photography was great, the directing was really good the music was decent so overall it was a great flick for eight and up. It actually is a family movie but in one scene, Greg is in his underwear and I swear they must have stuffed it. or he went doopy in it.  Now I have traveled all over most of the world with my parents. If you think the things in this movie are unreal, think again. For those that travel by plane or car, or even bus or train for a few hundred thousand miles, these things happen. I rate the movie 4 out of 5 stars and will probably add it to my collection to go with the other Diary movies.
