5th waveI saw this movie before I reviewed it. So many people have put the movie down that I almost didn’t see it. The problem with that is, most of those that gave the movie a bad review never saw it. They want to blast their hateful opinions over the net and attack anyone who says different. I am not one of those, even when my closest friends saw the preview I did of this movie a few months back before its release, they too expressed opinions. I am happy to announce I didn’t listen to them either.

People wanted to compare this movie to ID4 and other alien movies. I am grateful they were all wrong. I watched this movie last night in it’s entirety. Let me go over some facts. The movie was directed by J. Blakeson, it was not his first film. The directing was superb. The acting was way above par, and the photography was right on. Unlike other trilogys ( we have been told this would be a  trilogy) the movie ended in a way that it gave you hope for the future, but it actually ended. I hope if there is a trilogy each ends appropriately as well. The suspense went on throughout the movie. This movie was well written and well scripted.

Yes it is a teen movie, but if you are expecting wonder teen, Katness, or other haughty girl hero, forget it, it is not in this film. Some say it didn’t show the aliens and were pissed about it. Actually it did show the aliens, so they must not have watched the movie either. What do you think aliens look like anyway?

Just like any movie there were mistakes, saying things like it could have been better is okay, but it was a over the top movie, and something that I would have never expected listening to other people.

I rate this film 4 out of 5 stars, and I will add it to my collection.

I’m glad I wasn’t one of those who put it down on the preview 😉

And don’t aliens look like girls in the morning?? I’m joking before any girls get mad at me !

I found this movie totally enjoyable. It was not the horrible movie many made it sound like. It had moments where you think, “ah, I get it. I know what’s going to happen next.” This doesn’t necessarily mean that the writers weren’t being very clever, it just means that when you find out that you were right, you find yourself wishing that there was someone else watching with you so that you could get a high-five. 🙂

There were also a couple of things that I thought I understood but, thanks to Remmy, I was disabused of those notions. The pacing of the action was good and the dialogue was believable. I would recommend this movie with, perhaps, a couple caveats. With out giving anything away, let me leave here by saying: not everything is what you may think it is.

This an easy 4 out of 5 stars.
