Paul’s review of The Silence

The Silence (15-PG13) is a horror/thriller that was released on April 10th, 2019 and stars Kiernan Shipka as Ally Andrews a 16-year old who lost her hearing at 13. She must escape with her family when the world becomes under attack from a swarm of creatures that have been released from a newly discovered cave system in the USA.

There was lots of gore, but it was not overdone, and the main characters played their parts well. I particularly liked the way in which the deaf character was portrayed, and it introduced a novel pitch to the movie. There was also lots of twists to the story that kept me watching intensely.

I really enjoyed this, and it was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. There were a few niggles so I can’t give it top marks, but 4.5 from 5 from me.

I agree this was a very intense movie. The acting was excellent and the story line was engaging. The only part I wasn’t crazy about was the cultists. They weren’t really necessary for the story’s progression.
