Paul’s review of FirstBorn (2016)

I watch horror movies with some trepidation and FirstBorn, released 22nd December 2016, was one such title. The British based storyline follows a reluctant first-time mother (Charlie) who moves in with her boyfriend (James) to raise the child. When Charlie experiences some strange behaviour whilst carrying the baby, you have an inkling that something might not be quite right. As soon as baby Thea is born, those experiences start to become a lot more intense.

This is one of those movies that delivers on jumps and scares and I was genuinely worried for the family throughout the whole 1h 26m run time. The young girl who played Thea played her part very well along with mum and dad. I wasn’t overly impressed with some of the other actors but reluctantly I have to say I enjoyed this movie and would rate it 4 out of 5. If you do watch it, please ensure you don’t have anything in your hands at the time though!

Throughout history, red-haired women/girls have been known as demons, witches and burned at the stake or worse. It was nice to see this girl did not have red hair, however, she will scare you and make you jump. Great directing, acting but most of all, poor little girl.
