Paul’s review of 211

211 was released on June 2018 with a 15 (R) rating and stars Nicolas Cage as Mike Chandler an almost retired cop who has been given the task of taking a quiet high school student as a ride along following a fighting incident at his school. Chandler has lost his wife through cancer and has basically lost contact with his daughter even though her husband is his partner in the police force.

On their patrol with the ride along they come across a car parked in a restricted zone and decide to investigate. What they don’t know is that it is a getaway vehicle for a group of mercenaries who are trying to retrieve money owed to them following a deal that went wrong. What follows is full on action for the rest of the movie.

I found this movie to be exciting and the acting for the most part was believable. The storyline was good, but I do feel that there was some unnecessary killing that could have easily been left out with no detrimental effect. I would rate it 4 out of 5 and would it watch again.

Although Nicolas Cage can be uneven in his acting or his choice of scripts, I felt that he did a good job in this film. The story was violent, but it was not really gory. The violence in the movie was not gratuitous. This was my second viewing of this movie and I still enjoyed it.
