Coming from a nudist family, going from one nudist resort to another, playing naked in the fields of the Lord sometimes has drawbacks. Oddly I was never attacked by insects. Guess I wasn’t sweet enough, on the other hand, maybe they saw me as being one of them and left me alone. That is not to say I didn’t have my share of spiders and other creepy crawlies.
Another drawback was going shopping or out to eat. For the life of me, even to this day, I do not see the sense in getting dressed to do these things. We ate naked at home (sometimes people would have something on so do not get the wrong idea) but for me and my cousins, both girls and boys, it was not necessary to have clothes on.
Going shopping boggled my mind. You go, your mom picks out clothes for you. You have to undress only to get dressed again so she could see how they fit, “But mom why do I need them in the first place?” Then you have to get out of the clothes, try more on until she is finished, then you have to get dressed to go home.
Going to the doctor didn’t make sense. I remember my dad covering me in a blanket one time to take me to the hospital. He did not make me get dressed, of course my insides were falling out where a stick punched a hole in my ball sack. A big gaping hole and my insides were falling out. But over all a kid goes to the doctor, unlike adults, they tell the kid to get naked. They don’t cover the kid with anything (okay sometimes you are not totally naked, it depends on what is wrong) Then you are inspected. Another thing that bugs me about doctors is they ask what is wrong with you, well If I knew that I wouldn’t need a doctor now would I?
Then after the inspection they tell you to get dressed and you go home to undress again. Mind boggling lack of focus here people. Now as an adult I find they have you put on a gown that doesn’t really cover you no matter how small you are. I guess it is so they can all see my wiggly bum. Then the doctor comes in and acts like the gown is a nuisance and throws it all over the place, then you have to put the gown back on BEFORE you get dressed. Just don’t make much sense does it?
Now my uncle tells me that in his lifetime, there was a point where a doctor never saw you naked, then a point where you were always naked, and now it is at the point where a doctor may never see you naked in your life. Go figure.
School. Most of my life I was home-schooled, for almost obvious reasons. I remember the first school I went to was a Catholic school. Some clothes made me itch and others I didn’t notice. The clothes you bought for school made me itch constantly. So off with the clothes. “Teacher Remmy is doing it again!”
Tattletales and it was not the girls complaining, it was the boys! I guess they were jealous? Anyway my first year of school I spent more time in the closet than I did with the other kids. Oddly as I found out later, not one kid ever went home and complained about it, and if they did, the parents never said anything to the Principal. Odd.
As the years went on the nasty clothes got better, less nakedness at school, but one time my dad got so pissed off, It was the last time I went to a regular school until I turned fourteen. Yes I was picked on a lot, bullied, beat up, but I wasn’t going to let anyone make me a sinner.
Wait what did I just say? Let’s face it, religion has screwed with many heads. For instance: But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” The man answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” (Genesis 3:9-11, NIV)
Wow God created man naked, in his own image and likeness. God wants you naked, and even if you do not believe in God, nature made you naked. Why can’t people leave good alone?
