My best friend Paul, we have known each other from wee lads, went to the hospital last week. I was crushed. They told me he had acute appendicitis. So they operated. He was in a lot of pain. Lots of pain, so much pain he couldn’t call me for several days. Then he recuperated enough to call me again almost a week later. It seems Paul had complications.

I am hoping this operation has taught him something about being sick, and being grumpy and fussy all the time, since he really knows what real pain is now.

This was the doctor’s prognosis:

'That pretty much kills my appendicitis diagnosis.'Paul will be home from the hospital soon so he says. One word. If your kid complains of severe abdominal pains, believe him/her. Did you know that most kids could survive if their parents would have listened?

3 Thoughts on “Appendix Complications

  1. Yeah, I was lucky. They said it was very nasty when they opened me up. It wasn’t a nice feeling having to stay in hospital for 10 days.
Even now I am not what you could call anywhere near fit it will take a good few weeks I was told.
If you have any pain in your right tummy go to A+E/ER, they will not judge you if it’s just wind (!) and it might save your life.

I’m glad that you survived your ordeal, Paul. You have to keep an eye out for those demons. 😉
