After five years of remmymeggs.com

The last couple of days have been hectic. First I want to thank Paul and StevenF for staying with this site for 5 short years. Between the 3 of us, we have written over 1200 articles, and most of you loved them. It pains me to say it but this week our database was corrupted, and there was nothing I could save it, except for paying one of my legs to some **** who wanted to charge me but couldn’t fix it.  So the entire database, five years of work is down the tube. We do have some articles and we will post those, that we have copies of, as time permits, but overall they are gone.

Things I would like to see… Comments, I know you read the articles your comments would be appreciated, and clicking the like buttons would be appreciated too. Donations, it doesn’t cost you but a cup of regular (not Starbucks coffee) a couple of times a year to keep this website in operation, we sure do not make money from it. Thoughts and ideas, we love them! Other writers, if you have something to share on a regular basis and it fits into our clean environment, let me know and maybe we will add you!

It was a pleasure to work with Remmy and Paul on the previous site and if all things turn out well, we may be able to get this one running on a permanent basis. As Remmy has stated, I hope to see more fans leaving Likes, comments and even some of their own reviews.
Thanks to Remmy for this forum.

Backups, don’t just trust the cloud but keep backups of your posted articles and then backup your backups. I use a couple of different methods for backups. I have Genie Backup (I think that the name) that zips and encrypts selected directories on my PC. Then those backups are backup up to Amazon AWS storage, to multiple external hard drives and a few other places.

I have been rather lucky in that the only time that I lost everything on my PC was about an hour after I had completed a full system backup to tape. But that made me realize the importance of backups.

On another note, I tried to find a link to Patreon on your current site and could not find one. Make it easy for us old folks to find you there.

Yea except for the fact that I could not back up five years worth of databases and photos. The company backs it up every night, but the sight was about to crash the day before so they couldn’t do it. Thanks, now teach me how to do that and we are good to go! But alas you will have to be in the chat channel and be more active to do that right?
