Remmy’s Review: 2036 Origin Unknown

2036 Origin Unknown, June 2018, Rated TV-14 staring Kate Sachoff as a strange scientist and Steven Cree as the voice of a computer. A monolith on Mars, which is actually a cube instead of a monolith on Pluto. A computer that has its own mind (HAL?)

Personally I felt that this was a remake of several SciFi movies, except for the end of it. Even though this has great reviews from scifi people, I am not a scifi person, I rate it 3 out of 5 because this is just a different ending to the same movies we have seen in the past.

Remmy’s Review Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

I for one am a little tired of the Jurassic Park Franchise since Bryce Dallas Howard was introduced to it. She was bad in Jurassic World, and worse in Fallen Kingdom, June, 2018, some people just should not be put in front a camera, people like Ron Howard for one. It is not the obvious ugly red hair, or lack of hair, it is the lack of acting skills.

But the franchise has lost its glory, mediocre actors, and downplaying the good actors they had/have, such as Ty Simpkins who made Jurassic World a success. Yet most of us like dinosaurs, until that is, we actually realize they are all related to snakes. Or maybe all snakes are related to them.

Unless of course, you are under the false belief that ALL dinosaurs developed into birds and flew away. The problem with these Dinosaur movies is that they are under the assumption that all Dinos lay eggs. I am here to tell you they didn’t. Am I an expert to know such things? Not exactly, but I did raise snakes for several years Until I was swallowed whole, well okay until I got sick 😛 . That is when I found out the truth. You hardly ever hear of snakes giving live birth, just like humans do. The fact is that many snakes give live birth, and the others were all birdlike. Ah-ha now the truth be told.

With all the franchises errors, they have many things right. The worst mistake they have made in my opinion is to have anything to do with the Howard family. Whether you like them or not is up to you, but that is my opinion. The second mistake is having a T-Rex be the hero in all the films. They need new writers. I counted 140 errors in logic, in this movie, but still…

I rate Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 4 out of 5, if Bryce Howard was missing I would have given it a 5.

StevenF Review of Alex Strangelove

The film Alex Strangelove was released on June 8, 2018. Alex Truelove (Daniel Doheny) is class president, has a 4.0 GPA, a girlfriend, and goofy friends. Claire (Madeline Weinstein) and Alex start out as friends but when Claire’s mother is diagnosed with cancer, they become more than just friends. When they go to a party, Alex meets Eliot (Antonio Marziale) and his female friend. Even though Eliot is gay, Alex feels that his masculinity is not threatened. While attempting to have sex with Claire, Alex starts to overthink his life.

There are some funny scenes with his best friend who hallucinates after licking a toad with hallucinogenic properties at the party. Over all, the acting was very good. The only problem is that the actors are not teenagers. There is also some foul language. The only sex scene is between Alex and Claire. The story line was very good and the characters weren’t caricatures.

After the film, there is a montage of real teenagers telling their coming out stories. I enjoyed this movie a lot. It has a good message without being overly preachy. I give it 4 stars out of 5. I took off for the foul language and the adult actors playing teenagers.

Paul’s review of 211

211 was released on June 2018 with a 15 (R) rating and stars Nicolas Cage as Mike Chandler an almost retired cop who has been given the task of taking a quiet high school student as a ride along following a fighting incident at his school. Chandler has lost his wife through cancer and has basically lost contact with his daughter even though her husband is his partner in the police force.

On their patrol with the ride along they come across a car parked in a restricted zone and decide to investigate. What they don’t know is that it is a getaway vehicle for a group of mercenaries who are trying to retrieve money owed to them following a deal that went wrong. What follows is full on action for the rest of the movie.

I found this movie to be exciting and the acting for the most part was believable. The storyline was good, but I do feel that there was some unnecessary killing that could have easily been left out with no detrimental effect. I would rate it 4 out of 5 and would it watch again.
