The Scorpion King: Rise of a Warrior 19 August 2008 is a straight to video production and backtracks on the Dwayne Johnson Megahit which as far as I am concerned barely ranked 4 stars. Michael Copan plays the man that made it all happen and he did excellently. Karen David plays his sidekick and adds beauty to the otherwise desolate Iranian desert.  Pierre Marais plays the young boy Mathayus, Doomsday (2008), 10,000 BC (2008) and King Solomon’s Mines (2004) and even though he only had a small part he made you feel the movie. Randy Couture a former wrestler (remnants of Dwayne Johnson I presume), is playing the bad guy throughout, and basically acted as himself.  Unlike the Scorpion King, there were many layers to this film. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars, but will not add it to my collection, however, it is a movie you will want to watch every couple of years.

As a fan of The Mummy franchise, I thought the original Scorpion King was poor. This one does look quite good though and I will add it to my watch list.

I did see the first Scorpion King and I wasn’t impressed. Based on the trailer, this looks more entertaining. I will probably watch it.
